Ideas. Inspiration. Interaction.
This is what Minimum Waste is essentially about. But particularly the first two we stress in our "Planet hero" series, where we introduce you to everyday heroes who decided to fight against unnecessary waste and for sustainable consumption.
"Be the change that you wish to see in the world"
Today we present you an all-time favourite of many who have decided to change their habits and reduce their waste: Lauren Singer and her blog Trash is for Tossers. Similarly to Bea Johnson, Lauren decided a couple of years ago that enough is enough and that it was time to start living her life like she actually loves the environment.
Why do we like her blog?
Because Lauren makes zero-waste approachable - not only does she show you how to reduce your own waste footprint but also how to do so while living a fun and easy life. On her blog she gives advice ranging from how to avoid food waste production to recycling old clothes. For instance, did it ever cross your mind to make your own toothpaste or cleaning products? Just by taking a peek at her blog, it makes you wonder how much packaging could be avoided in the world of products. There is nearly always a minimum waste substitute to packaged goods in stores - goods that are often not wrapped just once, but even twice or three times. (!)
This blog is a helpful guide for anyone keen on reducing waste - be it by changing only certain habits or by going full on zero-waste. Besides the blog, interviews and advice can be found also on the ’Trash is for Tossers’ YouTube channel. Recently Lauren started running her own store as well - the ’Packaging Free Shop’ - where great alternatives to every-day products can be found.
All in all, efforts such as these are essential in putting things into perspective - as Lauren says trash is for tossers.
